What is summer league baseball about?

The Edmond Bulldog Baseball Summer League is an extension of the school program that allows players the opportunity to continue to develop and improve throughout the summer months. The summer league is administrated by the Edmond Bulldog Baseball Club (EBBC). While it is not required to play summer baseball, it is strongly encouraged to participate due to the highly competitive nature of the school program.

Who is eligible to play summer baseball?

Any player that makes a high school team roster in the spring is eligible to participate in the summer program. Any current 7th or 8th grader living in the Edmond Memorial district is eligible to try out for the summer program. If the student is from outside our district, they must be enrolled at Edmond Memorial to be eligible to try out.

When are tryouts?

The middle school summer tryouts will be held in May at the Edmond Memorial Baseball Field. Around 15 will be selected for the freshman red dirt summer league team.

What is included with the registration fee?

The registration fee includes the cost of a shirt and hat for the player as well as fees for coaches, umpires, tournaments, field rental, insurance and field maintenance. This fee is NON-REFUNDABLE if your son makes a summer roster. Your check will be held until after tryouts. If your son makes a summer roster your check will be cashed. If your son does not make a summer roster your check will be returned to you. Summer fees are NOT intended to be a fundraiser.

What will I need to purchase for my son to play?

Additional costs may include a maroon belt, white pants, stirrup, socks, and cleats.

What is the attire for tryouts?

Each player needs to wear baseball appropriate attire (baseball pants, tennis shoes (and bring cleats), hat, protective cup, etc.)

What does the tryout consist of?

Tryouts consist of evaluating defensive and offensive skills including running a 60 yard sprint for time. Pitchers/catchers will be evaluated on an individual basis.

What if my son plays for another baseball team?

The player needs to communicate with Coach Holman.

What if my son participates in a different Edmond Memorial program?

If a player participates in multiple programs at Edmond Memorial, we simply ask that the player communicate with the coaches concerning any conflicts that may arise. We fully support the participation in multiple Edmond Memorial programs and are willing to work with the player.

Does my son need a physical?

A player does not need a physical to participate in our summer program. Edmond schools usually arrange a day in May for athletes to attain a physical that will be good for the following school year. It is encouraged that athletes take advantage of this opportunity if possible.

As a parent, will I be expected to work at the games?

Yes, EBBC is responsible for the gate, concessions, and the press box at all home games during the summer season. Parents are expected to help cover games for their respective teams.
